Dominic Mejia

Many outside of the Olympic Conference American Division have never heard of Dominic Mejia. That's all about to change. Mejia will be one of South Jersey's top players in the upcoming 2000-2001 basketball season.
The 6-foot-3 Eastern guard is primed to step out of the Voorhees landscape and gain some statewide recognition. As a sophomore last year, Mejia was a major factor during the Vikings 16-9 campaign. His average of 13.8 ppg was second on the team only to departed senior Justin Barton's 16.2 ppg average. Mejia realizes that this Viking team is now his to lead if Eastern is to enjoy success in the Y2k and beyond.
"I'm looking forward to being a real threat this season and playing the point. I was on and off (last season) due to a bad back, so I've got a lot to improve on", said Mejia. "We'll be returning Lance Evans at the small forward position and we'll also have Paul Whitt. I'm working on getting their con around mid-range areas and the sideline area. I've been working on getting my shot off a lot better around there and I'm starting to go to the basket a lot stronger."
Mejia's Vikings will face DaJuan Wagner and the Camden High Panthers during the first game of the season. This is a game that he's been waiting for.
"I'm looking forward to playing against DaJuan in November. I've been looking forward to it since I was a freshman. I've talked with him, but I never got the chance to play with him," said the confident Mejia. "I believe that I'm the best. That's the attitude I to have, so I'm looking forward to it."
South Jersey take notice. New Jersey take notice. Remember the name and remember the game, 'cause Dominic Mejia's got plenty of it. BACK
