Holy Spirit will open their Group A championship quest versus Monsignor Donovan on March 1st at home. The Spartans are the #4 seed in Group A and will be looking to emerge as South Jersey's representative in the state championship hunt.

Senior guard Nick Mimmo runs the Spartan offense and averages 15.1 points per game. Mimmo is a sharpshooter from beyond the arc and can get to basket with clever moves into the paint. Junior Marc Melbourne leads the team in scoring at 17.8 points per game. The duo is one of the more potent offensive tandems in the area.

In a victory over the Sterling Silver Knights at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, the Spartans were able to get into playoff gear. Holy Spirit outscored Sterling 42-14 in the second have to erase a 5-point halftime deficit and turn it into a 73-50 rout. The Spartans hope to use this momentum to propel them to post-season glory.

"This was a good win," said Nick Mimmo after scoring 8 points in the contest. "It feels good to come back against (Sterling). We played very well in the second half and managed to shut their offense down. Hopefully we'll feed off of this win and get hungrier in the tournament."

With powerful Christian Brothers Academy and Camden Catholic looming as favorites, Holy Spirit will look to will their way down the stretch.

"We didn't finish the regular season at 20-4 because of strong second halves," said Melbourne. "We'll need to put 4 quarters of good basketball together each night from here on out. If we do this, we'll win some games… and maybe the whole thing."

The Spartans have a shot. They're hungry and ready for the playoffs to get started, and they hope that the Sterling victory is just the first course of their playoff meal.
